.A.D.A.G.I.O. A Winter's Tale
Adagio #3
A Feather is Lost
The pianist is not alone, a conductor nearby, mentally building up the tempo. Silence in the orchestra.
A feather is lost.
A flute starts his melody with the piano and the orchestra goes with them. Slowly, in an arrhythmic tempo.
Like the fall of this wonderful feather in the cold morning air.
A slow fall, the dew making the feather heavier. Drop by drop. Dew that slowly becomes frost, small crystals building up on the feather that slowly becomes like a jewel, reverberating the early morning light. The piano sings its love to the orchestra describing the trajectory of this light jewel.
The heron already far, lost in the fog.
Music Exists Around Us_ADAGIO project by Ylenia Viola _ FairyTalesNeverDie
Music exists around us. For many, it has never be composed, but found by someone who we erroneously call composer. Music is around us and actively defines life in our universe. So, we cannot be surprised if this is a story of a music, and a relationship, and a metamorphosis. Ultimately a story of love.
Once Upon a Time there was a Music _tav 02 from the “ADAGIO – A Winter’s Tale” project by Ylenia Viola FairyTalesNeverDie
Once Upon a Time there was a Music. And in this music…. a heron. It is early morning, majestically flying over a river, pushing its wings on the notes, flying on an imaginary river, cold and foggy. Its wings driven by Ravel’ music.

Nothing is by chance – Table 4 from the “ADAGIO – A Winter’s Tale” project by Ylenia Viola FairyTalesNeverDie
Nothing is by chance. The Adagio goes slowly as the feather falls, finally touching like a caress a sleeping Princess. A light cold touch on her skin while the frost melts and the jewel disappears as Princess Yiring wakes up to her new life. A wait while asleep, a wait for a new life, for the key to a new world, for something she has been waiting forever. In her dark, lost in her wait in a remote site of the world.
Pure Instinct
Princess Yiring instinctively grabs the feather and suddenly pierces her arm with violence, the last gesture of her former life, the beginning of a new. She knew she had to do this. A sharp edge, her soft pale skin. Pure instinct. Irrevocable. Written. The piano is losing itself in a trill while the orchestra holds a G, for a long time.
Life. Again.
Scales of the piano accompany the blood, flowing on the arm. Drop by drop blood falls on the ground. Rose petals from those drops, hundreds of petals that on a long trill of the piano slowly recompose to a red rose. It is in this impossible reverse process that new roses are coming up, a plant, another life, again, a new life. Spring in the middle of winter. Blossoming everywhere, buds disclosing, green spreading around. Life, again. A bubble of spring in a remote wood in winter.
Feathers on her new life
Princess Yiring feels this energy flowing in her body, spreading everywhere…. and totally surrenders to it, leaving music playing her fate, her future, her destiny. Totally. A big wave of energy hits the Princess, the music is raising its intensity and her surrender makes the wave naturally flowing in her. Energy that turns her body upside down, making a transformation, irreversible. The veil finally drops. The fog around her dissipates and she can finally see her new sunshine. Feathers, feathers on her arms, on her body, on her new life.
And the absolute belief that all of a sudden she knew how to fly
And the absolute belief that all of a sudden she knew how to fly. Wings… Wonderful wings are now integral part of the Princess’ body; they slowly start to move, to expand, to feel the consistency of the air for the first time.
She has been waiting her fate for a long time.
A never-ending trill of the piano accompanies the completion of her metamorphosis. New muscles are moving her body. A far moon is rising in the sky. The Princess has been waiting her fate for a long time.
Part of a cycle
She is ready to be part of a cycle, a cycle of seasons, planets, life. Her new movements describe the beginning of a fly. Her mind is focused on trajectories, dynamics, lines.
White feathers blend in the whitish foggy morning
Air is suspended, fog is slowly back again. Two legs moving on the ground, two eyes moving around. White feathers blend in the whitish foggy morning. Silence. It is time, finally. Time for her new fly. Gone.
